Assessments on Knowt
Assessments let you build graded work for your class in minutes and let Kai handle the grading. You can create them from a topic, from a file you already have, from scratch, or from our SAT, ACT and AP question libraries, then assign them to a class or turn them into a live Knowt Play game.
The two types of assessment
Traditional (MC, TF & Short Answer) — multiple choice, true/false and short-answer questions. Kai grades every submission automatically and gives each student a strengths and areas-of-improvement summary.
Writing (Essay, etc.) — a writing prompt with a rubric. Kai drafts inline comments and a rubric score, and you review and publish the feedback before students see it.
Where to find them
Create — click the green + button (or the Assessments card on your Home page) and choose Assessment. Writing assessments also have their own Writing Feedback tab in the Create menu, which includes Bulk feedback on multiple writings for work students did elsewhere.
Materials — every assessment you make is saved in your Materials tab, like any other file.
Classes — assigned assessments appear in your class's Analytics tab, and students find them under Assessments & Chat Tutors in the class.
What students see
Students open the assessment from their class, see the due date, number of attempts and time limit, and click Start Assessment. For traditional assessments, Kai grades the test as soon as they submit and shows their score, the correct answers and an Explain why button for every question (depending on the visibility options you chose). For writing assessments, students see "This grade will be posted after your teacher reviews feedback" until you publish.
Tip: Every assessment also has a Play button, so you can run the same questions as a live Knowt Play game in class.
Tip: Sharing anything with students? You can simply send them the URL. Students must be logged in to open it, and all their progress on that link is tracked for you.
