Assigning an assessment
Open the assessment and click Assign in the top right.
Choose Quick Start or Custom Settings, then click Create.
Quick Start
Quick Start uses sensible defaults: you can see students' live progress, the assessment is graded out of 100, and students see their grade as soon as they submit.
Custom Settings
Custom Settings adds two more steps.
Start – End Time
Start Date — schedule when students can begin.
End Date — set the deadline.
Allow Late Submissions — toggle on to accept work after the deadline.
Custom Settings
Class — pick the class to assign to. Once a class is selected you can also limit it to specific Sections.
Require Log In to complete — turn on so only signed-in students can submit.
Time Limit — unlimited by default.
Session Attempts — how many times a student can take it (unlimited by default).
Grade student submissions for this assignment — turn off for an ungraded check-in.
Show grade after… and Show answers after… — choose Student Submits or Due Date.
Click Assign. You'll see "Session created successfully" and land on the session's Stats page.
Sharing the assignment
The Stats page has a Share to participants bar with everything you need to get students in:
Copy Link — a join link like www.knowt.com/join/123456.
Show QR — a QR code students can scan.
Google Classroom and Canvas — post the assignment to your LMS (LMS integrations are part of Knowt Ultra and school site licenses).
Assigned to <class> — confirms which class received it.
Students in the class you assigned to will also see it automatically under their class's Assessments & Chat Tutors tab.
Tip: You can change a live session's settings with the Settings button on the Stats page, or stop accepting submissions with End. Ending the session is also what unlocks the session's Analytics tab.
