Opening the assignment
Open your class → Assessments & Chat Tutors → Writing Feedback and click the assignment.
Read the Details (due date, attempts, time limit) and click Start Assessment.
Writing your response
The editor has a title field and a page for your writing, with a formatting toolbar for headings, lists, bold and italics, math and more. Your work saves automatically as you type.
The right-hand panel shows the Prompt and, if your teacher enabled it, the Grading Rubric — so you know exactly what you're being graded on.
Thought Partner is an AI helper that knows the prompt. It won't write the essay for you, but it can review your writing, help you understand the prompt and sources, or brainstorm ideas with you.
Version History lets you look back at earlier drafts.
Resume Later saves your draft so you can come back to it.
Note: Your teacher can see how you wrote: how long you spent, whether text was pasted in, and any chats with the Thought Partner. Write in your own words.
Submitting
Click Submit at the top right.
Confirm Submit in the pop-up. Once submitted, you can't change your work.
You'll see "This grade will be posted in your class after your teacher reviews feedback." Your teacher reviews Kai's suggested comments and score before anything is shared with you.
Reading your feedback
When your teacher publishes, the assignment's status changes to Published and shows your score. Open it to see your essay with your teacher's comments highlighted, your score for each rubric criterion with feedback, and the AI scan results if your teacher shared them.
