Check if your Chrome extension is updated

To do this — please close your browser completely, and re-open it. This should automatically install the newest version of the chrome extension.

Now that you’ve done this — please try the following steps:

Open the YouTube video

Open the YouTube video you want to import.

Click the Chrome extension

Click the chrome extension.

Import

Import!

Check if your YouTube site is not in English

While we’ve fixed up our chrome extension to support YouTube when it is not in English — there can always be some edge cases where it doesn’t work. So let’s try changing the language by following these steps:

Open YouTube

Open YouTube.

Click the profile picture

Click the profile picture in the top right.

Find 'Language' in the dropdown

Find “Language” in the dropdown.

Change the language

Change the language to English (US).

Open the YouTube video

Open the YouTube video you want to import.

Click the Chrome extension

Click the chrome extension.

Check if your YouTube video has no transcript

Unfortunately, if you’ve reached this step it’s not good news… Knowt currently does not support YouTube videos without transcripts. Here’s how to check if your video has no transcript:

Open the YouTube video

Open the YouTube video you want to import.

Find the 3 dot menu

Under the video player, on the right there is a 3 dot menu button.

Click the button

Click that button.

Check for 'Show transcript' option

If you do not see a “Show transcript” option it is unfortunately without a transcript.
