Using Learn mode
Open the flashcard set from your Materials and click Learn.
Choose the options that fit your goals (below), then click Start.
Learn options
Studying for an exam? — pick your exam date and Knowt paces your rounds toward it.
Length of Rounds — how many cards per round (7 by default).
Question Types — Flashcards, Multiple Choice, Written and True & False.
Question Format — answer with the term or the definition.

Audio — sound effects, background music and autoplay audio.
Learning options explained
Study starred terms only — only cards you've starred are included.
Shuffle terms — randomise the order each round.
Smart grading — for written answers, ignores typos and small differences (like capitalisation or a missing article) so you aren't marked wrong for a slip. Turn it off if you want exact-match grading.
Re-type answers — when you get a written answer wrong, you're asked to type the correct answer before moving on.
Allow override wrong answers — for written answers, if Knowt marks you wrong but your answer meant the same thing, you can click to mark it as correct yourself. Useful for definitions where wording varies.
Note: Teachers can lock these options for a whole class or for an individual set, so some may be greyed out or missing on class sets. If a mode you expect isn't available, ask your teacher to check both the class settings and the set's settings.
Learn mode tracks your progress and adjusts the difficulty as you go. After each answer you'll see straight away whether it was correct.
Tips
Be specific in your goals — choose question types that match how you'll be tested.
Review your mistakes — use the feedback after each question to spot the terms you struggle with.
Mix in other modes — follow a Learn session with Practice Test or Match to check what stuck.
On the app?
Open the set in your Library and tap Study flashcard set.
Choose Learn, set your preferences and tap Start!
