How can I password-protect my files?

With password protected files, anyone with the password you create will be able to see and study your note, but not have access to edit it.

Enabling password protection on files

Note: Password-protecting files is only available to Knowt Plus or Ultra subscribers! If you are a subscriber, there are 3 ways to password-protect your files. You can even password-protect folders too!

Method 1: On your home screen

  1. Click the lock icon in the bottom left of an existing flashcard set or note.

  2. In the edit sharing settings pop-up, click on the Password Protected block.

  3. A password field should appear; please enter a password you want to set, and press save.

Method 2: Inside flashcard sets

  1. Open an existing flashcard set, or create a flashcard set.

  2. Scroll under the big flashcard on the right.

  3. Click on the share button.

  4. In the edit sharing settings pop-up, click on the Password Protected block.

  5. A password field should appear; please enter a password you want to set, and press save.

Method 3: Inside notes

  1. Open an existing note, or create a note.

  2. Click on the 3 dot menu button.

  3. Click on the share button.

  4. In the edit sharing settings pop-up, click on the Password Protected block.

  5. A password field should appear; please enter a password you want to set, and press save.


Enabling password protection on folders

  1. Open an existing folder, or create a folder.

  2. Click on the share button.

  3. In the edit sharing settings pop-up, click on the Password Protected block.

  4. A password field should appear; please enter a password you want to set, and press save.
