Why was my content removed for copyright?

In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), Knowt removes access to study sets when we receive a notice from a publisher or their legal representative claiming that the specific set infringes their copyright. Knowt is not able to make judgments about the validity of these claims.

If you feel that this removal is the result of a mistake or misidentification on the part of the publisher who sent the notice to Knowt, or believe that you have the rights to share this material (for example due to a license or fair use), we’re very sorry for any inconvenience that this removal has caused you, your students or your classmates.

What can I do about content removed for copyright?

If you know the publisher, you can consider reaching out to the person or people who requested its removal directly to seek clarification on why it was removed or to explain how you are using Knowt to learn or teach. If the publisher rescinds their DMCA claim, we will restore access to your content.

While we are not in a position to provide you with legal advice, you can contact us with further questions about our policy, or a specific removal.

While we understand that people make mistakes, Knowt will terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly violate our repeat infringement policy.
