In Knowt, you can add teachers to join your class as a co-owner, contributor, or viewer (default role).

Note: Adding viewers is free, but please note that the contributor and co-owner roles are currently only available through the Teacher Plus plan.

What are the differences between each of the 4 roles?

  1. Owner

    1. This is you, the sole original owner of the class!

  2. Co-Owner

    1. Co-owners have permission to make any edits in the class, including managing settings, changing users' roles, and removing students. However, they will not be able to delete the class.

  3. Contributor

    1. Contributors will have the ability to create and delete their own files in the class.

  4. Viewer

    1. Viewers will only be able to view class files and class progress.

Adding another teacher

  1. Select the "Classes" tab right next to "Other files" (you should be on it already).

  2. Select the class you would like to invite the new teacher to.

  3. Under Class Code & Link, click the class code (the 6-digit code).

  4. Send your new teachers the class code and have them login to Knowt. If they haven't created an account yet, they can follow this article to sign up.

  5. Instruct the new teacher to press the black "Create or join class" button.

  6. They will then type in your class code. After they've entered the code, they can click "Open Class" to view the class they've just joined as a viewer!

That's it! To find out how to change teachers' roles, read on!

Changing teachers' roles within your class

  1. To change a teacher's role in your class, navigate to your class Dashboard and click the "People" tab.

  2. Select the "Actions" button, then select "Change role."

  3. You can only change roles for teachers, not students, so make sure you've selected a teacher (status is shown in the "Role" column)!

  4. Select the desired new role for the teacher and click "Got it" to save!

Tip: You can also change teachers' roles directly from the "People" tab by simply clicking on their current role.
