The free plan
Teachers can use most of Knowt for free, including classes, assessments, chat tutors and Knowt Play. On the free plan you get:
Unlimited AI and incident monitoring for you and your students on the files you share with them.
Creation, live collaboration and storage for up to 20 files.
Public and Org sharing of your files, classes with unlimited students, and all of your students' sharing options stay free — sharing restrictions only ever apply on the teacher side.
How the 20-file limit works
Free teacher accounts can create up to 20 materials in total (not per month). Your progress shows in the bottom-left corner of Knowt as "N/20 files created" and in Settings → Your Plan. Only materials created while you're on the free plan count — anything you made while on Ultra isn't counted.
Features that need Ultra
These show a crown icon and open an Upgrade to Ultra window when you try them:
Making files private or password-protected in the sharing menu (Public and Org sharing are free).
Advanced study restrictions — on the free plan you can turn each study mode on or off and set the question format for your class or a specific set, but locking those settings so students can't change them needs Ultra. The dialog says it plainly: "Without Ultra, students can change them freely."
Google Classroom and Canvas integration, and removing ads.
Tip: Received a code from Knowt at a conference or event? Enter it in the Received our code? box at the top of the Upgrade window for 3 months of unlimited files.
Knowt Ultra for teachers
Ultra removes the file limit and adds Google Classroom and Canvas integration, private files, advanced study restrictions and analytics on assignments. It comes with a 30-day free trial and is billed yearly ($199.99/year at the time of writing — see current pricing at knowt.com/plans, Teachers tab). You can also put coins you've earned on Knowt toward a plan in the Store, or earn rewards by referring other teachers.
School site licenses
If you'd rather your school pay, click Or, ask your school to buy in the Upgrade window or Get a school site license in the sidebar. A site license includes everything in Ultra plus licenses for all your students, LMS and rostering integrations (Canvas, Clever, ClassLink and more), an admin dashboard, and a dedicated customer success manager.
Note: Students don't inherit Ultra from their teacher. If a student's plan page says "Gifted Ultra", that subscription was added for them by the Knowt team.
